These terms govern use of bestopedia.com, operated by Bestopedia. Using the site means accepting these terms. This is version 1, effective July 10, 2026. Material changes are versioned on this page.

What Bestopedia is

Bestopedia publishes profiles, rankings, and verification statuses of licensed businesses, compiled from official government records. The site is an editorial publication provided for general information. It is not professional advice, a referral service, a marketplace, or an agent of any listed business. Bestopedia is not affiliated with, and its content is not issued or endorsed by, any government agency.

The data

Bestopedia does not originate profile data. Facts on a profile are compiled from records published by the government agency that regulates each category. The agency’s own record is the authoritative source at all times, and every profile links to it.

Profile data is a snapshot. Records are refreshed from the source on a recurring cycle, each profile shows the date its record was last updated, and a business’s status can change at the agency between refreshes. The site may therefore lag the current official record.

The official record itself can be wrong or incomplete. Agencies publish what is reported to and processed by them; records can contain errors, lag behind events, or omit matters that were never reported or that the agency does not publish. Bestopedia reproduces the record as published, inherits any defect in it, and makes no claim that the record captures everything relevant about a business.

Scores, rankings, and statuses

Trust Scores, rankings, and verification statuses are Bestopedia’s editorial assessments, computed from the public record by the published methodology for each category. The same published rules are applied to every business, regardless of any commercial relationship with Bestopedia. Scores cannot be manually altered, and profiles are not removed or changed by payment or request; they change when the underlying record changes.

Scores, rankings, and statuses are statements of opinion based on the cited public record. They are not an endorsement of any business, a guarantee of its quality or competence, or a prediction of the outcome of any work you hire it to perform.

Your responsibility to verify

You must independently verify any information on this site before relying on it. Every profile links to the business’s official government record; check that record before making a hiring decision. Use Bestopedia as one input alongside your own research, references, quotes, and judgment. Decisions you make about any business, and their consequences, are yours.

Corrections

If any fact on a profile does not match the current official record, notify hello@bestopedia.com. Bestopedia will re-check the profile against the source and correct it if it does not match. This correction is Bestopedia’s sole obligation for erroneous data. Errors that originate in the official record itself must be corrected with the agency that publishes it.

Listed businesses

Businesses appear on Bestopedia automatically when they hold a license in a covered category. A listing is not a commercial relationship, and no listed business has approved or reviewed its profile, score, or rank unless its profile states otherwise. Paid services for businesses are governed by additional terms presented at the time of purchase. No paid service affects any score, ranking, or verification status; this separation is documented at Editorial Independence.

Permitted use

The site may be used for personal, non-commercial research. Bestopedia’s compiled database, text, scores, and page designs are Bestopedia’s property; the underlying government records remain public. Automated scraping, bulk extraction, or republication of the site’s data requires Bestopedia’s written permission. Do not misrepresent an affiliation with Bestopedia or interfere with the operation of the site.

No warranties

THE SITE AND ALL CONTENT ARE PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE,” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF ACCURACY, COMPLETENESS, CURRENCY, MERCHANTABILITY, OR FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE. BESTOPEDIA MAKES NO WARRANTY ABOUT ANY BUSINESS LISTED ON THE SITE OR ANY WORK IT PERFORMS.

Limitation of liability

TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, BESTOPEDIA IS NOT LIABLE FOR ANY DAMAGES ARISING FROM USE OF THE SITE OR FROM ANY DECISION MADE IN RELIANCE ON ITS CONTENT, INCLUDING DECISIONS TO HIRE OR NOT HIRE ANY BUSINESS. BESTOPEDIA’S TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ALL CLAIMS WILL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID BESTOPEDIA IN THE TWELVE MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM AROSE.

Disputes

These terms are governed by California law. Disputes that are not resolved informally are resolved by binding individual arbitration administered by JAMS in California, except that either party may bring a qualifying claim in small-claims court. Class actions are waived. Any claim must be brought within one year of the events giving rise to it.

Changes

Bestopedia may update these terms. Material changes are versioned and dated on this page, and continued use of the site after a change takes effect constitutes acceptance.
